Happy Earth Day Everyone!
Please take some time today to care for our planet! The Grade Twos practiced how they care for their planet today by working together and reflecting on how we "Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle".
This morning we gathered together and worked on some very challenging spelling exercises. The students communicated with one another on potential solutions and the inquiring of outcomes.
After Spelling we went to work on our math activity of the day by gaining greater understanding and becoming knowledgable about how space transfers to perimeter. This was accomplished in the activity of using 5 snap cubes and representing them on grid paper. The students will also begin their "Measurement Maze" assignment tomorrow! They are super excited about this hands-on learning experience.
We continued our "Freckle Juice" novel study this morning by discussing Chapter 5 and reviewing the task in Chapter. The students are taking risks when answering their comprehension questions by providing insightful answers fuelled by their own knowledge and creative ideas.
Following lunch the class continued their work on their "Courage" posters in visual arts combining Values and Visual Arts. Once the completed their posters the students became wonderfully engaged in an "Earth Day" lesson on how we can care on a deeper level for the needs of our planet.
The day concluded with our unit on "Fitness Goals" in Physical Education.

Hello Parents,
What a fantastic outing at Scooters Roller Palace!
This morning the Grade Twos worked effectively on their spelling exercises and communicated ideas on potential solutions.
Following Spelling the entire school headed out on our adventure to join St. Jude's at Scooters! The students had a blast and made new friends!

Good Morning Parents,
To kick things off for today's blog post I just wanted to mention that this week's journal will be going home today, but it will not be due until next Friday because we have two shortened weeks.
Today the students worked effectively on their spelling exercises and grammar activity of "silent /c/". They took risks when determining words that had the same meaning as happy, sad, and cold. The children were instructed on how to use and research words using a thesaurus. The class worked collaboratively and communicated their findings in a caring manner.
After, grammar the children continued with Language Arts and their reading of "Freckle Juice" and their comprehension questions. They balanced their time and were successful in completing their tasks.
In Mathematics the children had a blast discovering how to measure perimeter of shapes that I placed around the class. By keeping an open mind they opened their thinking up to how to find the distance around something. They discovered that by adding all sides will give you the perimeter of an object! Dynamite Three Part Lesson!
In the afternoon, the students continued with their "Texture" Unit in Visual Arts, by creating a personal collage.
Following Art the students worked on their printing of "G" and "Fitness Benefits"
