Miss Clapham - Grade Two: Learning Goal

SUBJECT AREAS:

Language Arts:

For the month of May the Grade Two's will be engaged in a novel study, "A Little Princess". This novel is dramatic and will allow the students to expand their personal insights and writing styles. The culminating task for this novel will be a Quiz on May 30, 2014. The fundamentals of Spelling, Phonics, and Grammar will also be focused on during our weekly tasks and lessons.

Mathematics:

Unit #10 will be the focus for the month of May, "Multiplication, Division, and Fractions". In this unit the students will be focusing on the Achievement Goals of:

- Learn about multiplication as counting groups of objects.

- Understand that repeated addition, multiplication, and skip counting are the same.

- Learn about division through grouping and sharing.

- Connect multiplying, dividing, and fractions to daily experiences.

Final Quiz scheduled for May 26th, 2014.

Science:

The month of May continues an exciting unit for the students of Grade Two and the area of focus will be "Movement". Students will engage dynamically in hands on activities and experiments that include position, motion, and moving objects.

Social Studies:

The units of "Heritage & Citizenship" and "Canada & World connections were completed during the first and second terms.

Health & Physical Education:

For the month of May the students will focus on "Changes in Growth and Development" in Health. In Physical Education the development of Soccer Skills and achieving fitness goals.

Visual Arts:

Students will identify differences and similarities in specific artwork, focusing on various styles and visual expression.

French:
