Today we focused on Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, Health, and PE
In Language Arts this morning we completed our spelling, phonics, and our exercises for "Freckle Juice". The students are thoroughly enjoying their understanding of the story and applying their knowledge towards their group work on sentence syntax. They are gaining understanding of new vocabulary and structure.
In mathematics, we continued our lessons on linear measurement with estimating and measuring with non-standard forms. The students worked effectively this morning in small groups to complete page 196 "Measure Three Ways" in Math Makes Sense.
This afternoon was the launch of our new Science Unit, "Properties of Liquids & Solids". We began with a brief video on the difference between solids and liquids, based on their molecular structures. After the video the students focused on two activities one which identified different subjects as either liquids or solids. The other activity allowed the students to identify the major characteristics of liquids and solids. Fantastic work students!
The later part of the day focused on the "Growth & Development" unit in Health (Amazing Me, Amazing You). In Physical Education the students continued to acquire understanding and achievement in Fitness Benefits through circuit training.
