The Friday before a break is always exciting and full of energy… and today was one of those days.
We began with a spelling quiz and all the students were focused and prepared. After the quiz we transitioned into mathematics and had a fantastic lesson on regrouping. The students learned how to regroup on a place value mat and using stack and slice strategies. They were successful in drawing comparisons between the two strategies and recognize the benefits.
Following our amazing pasta lunch the students worked effectively on their writing assignment, "Write a paragraph that tells a Story" final draft. Once they completed their stories they shared their creativity and writing abilities as a whole class.
The afternoon concluded with choir and drama. The students joined the Grade Ones and artistically demonstrated their use of movement as expression.
