In Language Arts the Grade Two's focused on their spelling exercises, phonics, and continuation of their novel study of "Ask Einstein". Following the adventures of the not-so-brilliant cat Einstein. This book is providing a light humour for the children to easily follow and they are gain valuable insights into their writing and reading comprehension skills.
In math today we continued our skill building of subtraction of two-digit numbers using the "Jack Strat" & "Place-Value Mapping". Both strategies have proven to be extremely successful and all of the students are obtaining a clear understanding of their applications! Awesome work Grade Two!
Following lunch the students engaged in an depth discussion of Water Sources in Science. We began the lesson by reading "Journey of a Water Drop" and concluding with conversations about water in our own homes. Where does it come from? Where does it go? How is it cleaned? Is water filtered? The students then progressed to complete a group activity about Sources of Water.
Finally, the day concluded with the concluding lesson in Health on Healthy Foods. Following Health we began our Physical Education unit on Fitness and Goal-Setting.
A spelling test is set for tomorrow as per our scheduled Friday routine.
